The client challenge

We were tasked with a pilot/test market launch and the associated commercialisation of an established F&B brand’s affordable nutritional range (which included oat-based soaps, chocolate drinks, snack bars and biscuits) into new geographies, in this case Nairobi and Mombasa, as proof of concept for Kenya and the wider African market.

Our solution

We completed the pre‐launch validation, business readiness planning and managed the entire launch including international sourcing, in market logistics, marketing, regulatory requirements and distribution — into market within one month — resulting in faster than expected results. With 33% more product sales than planned at the end of the test period, we provided de-risked commercial proof of concept for scale. The client took the project back in house and plans for the continued multi-country expansion is underway using additional Pilot Lite commercialisation support.

The client challenge

Our client was looking to take a cold-pressed drinks range into independent retail channels in Stockholm as a proof of concept for the wider Scandinavian market.

Our solution

We completed the pre-launch validation, business readiness planning and managed the entire launch including product mix, product and market logistics, distribution, independent outlet contracting and client budget as a standalone outsourced basis.

We delighted our client in terms of results by signing up a variety of 386 independent outlets, (against a target of 250) and similarly achieved almost double the sales volume target for the 5 month test period. The client, satisfied that we had established proved and de-risked market demand for subsequent market scale, took the project back in house and has expanded the launch from Sweden to Denmark as part of a wider development plan.

The client challenge

We were approached to assist in the validation, commercialisation, route to market strategy development and test market launch of a new plant-based dip, free from wheat, dairy, nuts, soy, eggs, artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, that is vegan, gluten-free, paleo-friendly and non-GMO. (A new product area considerably outside their existing, well established and associated area of focus).

Our solution

We completed the pre-launch validation, business readiness planning and managed the entire launch including product mix, marketing, branding, merchandising, product and market logistics, distribution, independent outlet contracting and client budget as a standalone outsourced basis.

The results exceeded our client’s expectations — from co-manufacture to sales in market within three months, unit sales at over three times the anticipated target and take up at over 40 outlets, with a further 1000 planned.

The client challenge

Through a combined taskforce of up to 40 of our own in-country scouting experts along with partners, we were able to put approximately 70 opportunities per category, as well as platform extensions, through our unique, comprehensive matrixing process to objectively select the top candidates. These were then entered into a more rigorous triangulation and validation process to benchmark the top 15 opportunities and platforms per category, alongside links to distribution. Finally, the trends were clarified, eradicating any fads to allow accelerated go-to-market for the client and allow them leapfrog their competition.

The client actioned 6 immediate opportunities across Oral Health, Pain and Digital Health, whilst also gaining a significant actional pipeline as well as the funding to create a new business unit. They also asked us to continue to support their origination activities across their remaining global categories. The client also looked to invest a further £100M in medium term companies across the categories. Overall, the process took 16 weeks with over 300 opportunities pipelined taking only a tenth of the time. We have since been asked to scout and identify for other business units across the corporation.
